The National Sports Day in India is celebrated on 29 August each year. This day marks the birthday of Major Dhyan Chand Singh, the hockey player who won gold medals in Olympics for India in the years 1928, 1932 and 1936. He scored over 400 goals in his career, from 1926 to 1948.
The Sports Staff of Noel School, Akola (CBSE Board) arranged a short Programme to celebrate this occasion. A short biography on the life of Major Dhyan Chand was presented by Anuja Sukede and Mukta Gadve and later the students who played at State Level and National Level were felicitated in this programme. The Principal, Mr. Anosh Manwar felicitated Bhavesh Deshmukh, Sujal Dandale for playing Rollball at National Level, Shreyash Rathod, Nayan Borkar, Shreyash Patil for playing Indoor Cricket at National Level, Aarya Nanote for Hammer Throw at State Level and Aaradhya Gadave and Aryan Shirsat for taking part in Guiness Book of World Records Event held at Belgaum, Karnataka. Later the Principal highlighted the importance of sports in one’s life through his guiding speech.
